College (cegep) coaches are not allowed to speak to student-athletes until the day following the finals (Bol d'Or). So how does one recruit you if one can not speak to you?

For starters, your Nexus Sports profile tells them all they need to know. Champlain, Vanier & John Abbott will know if you are able & willing to study in English. Trois-Rivières, Drummondville, Chicoutimi and plenty others will see if you are willing to relocate.

But before you commit, here are 4 questions you should be interested in asking the recruiters in order to help you make the right decision for you.

1 - Who is my position coach and can I speak to him?
Why? Because you will spend a lot of time with this coach. You need to know that you appreciate him, respect him and are looking forward to working with him.

2 - Where do you see me this year?
Some teams have immediate needs, some will have needs next year, some in 2 years. Make sure you know whether or not you are being looked into as a special teams player for year 1.

3 - What services does the school offer to keep me on track?
You're starting cegep. You have a job, a social life, go to the gym, practice, games and Hudl time. But first and foremost, you are a student. You have class and exams. What services does the school offer to help keep your head above water? Tutors? Team homeclass work sessions?

4 - How can your program help me get to the next level?
For those of you who want to play CIS or even NCAA, you need to let them know upfront what your goals are. And if you have serious next level aspirations, you must ask this question to ensure the program you select can help you get there.
